Train Chasing

One of my favorite things to do for free time is to go train chasing. There's a little road following the train up the Union Pacific Cheyenne-Laramie subdivision. Its always a fun thing to do. Here are some pictures.

This train is the fastest train running on the Union Pacific it goes from Chicago to California in 72 hours. Taken from a bridge close to the Borie cut off out side of Cheyenne.

Frontier Days II

Today I was able to wake and start driving until we saw 844 coming home from Denver CO with all the rodeo fans for Frontier days. We caught 844 at Greeley CO and chased him from Greeley back to Cheyenne. It was another extremely fun day with 844. Tonight 844 heads back to Denver for the night for another 21 cars full of people for CFD. Enjoy the pictures and movies.

Frontier Days

It's that time of year again with all the Frontier Days stuff. I have have always loved this time of year with all the excitement. One of my Favorite parts of FD is the Denver Post train. The steam crew has been putting this one for many years. One of there steam locomotive and many cars go to Denver to get the rodeo fans and bring then back for the Cheyenne Frontier Days. This morning the locomotive left Cheyenne at around 9:30 and was bound for Denver. Tomorrow the locomotive will we on display all day. And on Saturday it goes back to Cheyenne and then back to Denver in the same day. Finally on Sunday the locomotive travels back home to Cheyenne and does not have more trips until next year. This year the steam crew took Union Pacific 844 and there diesel 6936 and there train was 21 car long! This morning we watched it get ready to leave and then headed down to the First RR crossing. We then chased it from there to second crossing before it split off to head to Denver. Enjoy the pictures and videos. For more info go to www.upsteam.com
844 at the second crossing just out side of Cheyenne.
The train is so long it has to be split in two when not on the main.

844 was very clean and looking good ready to get the Highball.

The trip before before this one they took off the red mars light.

My trip to the Nevada Northern. {Ely NV}

My Dad was able to take me on business trip with him to the Nevada Northern Railroad. We drove to Denver CO there we hoped on a plane and flew to Salt Lake City. The next morning we got up and drove the three hours to Nevada Northern. We were able to stay at the NN for 3 days. The funnest opportunity was I got to drive the steam locomotive number 40 in the yard!!! The 40 was the only Steam Locomotive for those 3 days and a SD9 diesel. Over all if was the funnest trip i have ever been on. It is something I will never forget. Hope you enjoy the many videos and pictures.

Here is the SD9 diesel I was able to ride.

Here I am riding in the cad of the SD9

The 93 was unable to run that weekend. It needed to have a boiler wash.

Here is the #40 locomotive.

Here is 40 pulling out of the yard.
